Holiday Newsletter 2020

Dear Cat Lovers, Happy Holidays! We at The Crescent City Cat Club are doing well, with 20 cats and kittens on hand to be visited and/or adopted, including 11 kittens and (3) 6 month-old male tabbies: the three muskateers! They were rescued by a New Oleans police officer from a sad situation and we hope to find them some furrever homes. As you know, (almost) all of our cats are well-socialized and these guys are currently exploring their new environment. Then we have a mama with 8(!), count ‘em, 8 kittens, all very rambunctious and cute, and three siblings from another litter. We would love to see them go home in pairs, but some of the more confident ones will be fine on their own. Remember, we give a price break for two adopted at the same time. Our adoption rate is $125 for one and $200 for 2, which includes spaying or neutering and their first shots. They’re about 7 weeks old. Three have been spoken for already, but there are still plenty to choose from. All of our kittens are tiny so they will not be ready to go home until after the first of the year, but you are welcome to come and visit with them (it’s a hoot) and/or pick out the one(s) you’d like to add to your family, once they become large enough to have their spay/neuter surgery, which is at 2 lbs or more. We have black kittens, an orange and white tabby, some tuxedos and several tabbies. Please see our website or FB page for pix. Of course, it’s not all about the kittens. We also have some very sweet older cats, including Grace, who is dying to go home with someone; Nova, the cat mom who gave us 4 gorgeous kittens who have all been adopted; and Violet, a beautiful grey and white tabby, who is very sweet. And then there’s Daisy…. Our last appeal had good results, and the rear cottage is rented out again, so we are looking up and towards the future. Our new manager, Elena, will be taking over at the end of January. I’m sure you all join me in wishing her every success in this new roll here at The Cat Club. We will be closed from December 21 to January 5 for casual visits for our holiday break, but will be back, rejuvenated and raring to go, in January. HOWEVER, If you would like to adopt a cat or kitten during that time, please call us at 1-833-NOLACat and we can make it happen. BTW, if you’re still looking for a holiday present, please consider a gift certificate from The Cat Club for your cat-loving friends. The certificates are available for $12 (Cat Club Basic, a one-day pass), $36 (Cat About Town, good for daily visits over a 7-day period), $1oo (Big Cat, good for daily visits over a month), and $180 (Happy Cat, good for a full YEAR’s worth of visits). You can order them through our donation page and we can email them to you. Please include the to: and from: names, and you’ll be all set. You’ll also be helping us feed all those kittens! Thanks for all your support over this difficult time. I know we have cheered those folks who have stopped by for a visit, which you should consider in the new year. It is VERY therapeutic, as I imagine most of you know, and you are guaranteed to leave feeling better than when you came in! Have a happy and safe holiday and New year’s Eve and we look forward to seeing you soon. Just one more reminder: please mark Feb. 15 down on your calendar. That is Lundi Gras and the occasion of our 4th Annual Lundi Gras Parade (Stroll?) and Party. Molly and the usual assembly of irregulars (the brass band) are planning on coming and it should be great, as usual. Plan on it! All COVID protocols will be observed. Meow! -Eshyah
